We have achieved three consecutive years of being named an Honor Band of Virginia, which is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon bands by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA). To be an Honor Band, first a marching band has to receive unanimous superior ratings from all judges at the fall VBODA Marching Band Assessment. Then, the same school's highest concert band also has to receive unanimous superior ratings in the spring VBODA Concert Band Assessment. On October 31, 2015, the Marching Statesmen worked their magic on the judges at the Marching Assessment and earned Straight Ones. Then, on March 12, 2016, our Wind Symphony earned Straight Ones at the Concert Band Assessment, clinching the award. Congratulations, Marshall! See the Wind Symphony's perfect performances here:
- King Cotton by John Philip Sousa
- Tancredi by Rossini, tran. Falcone
- Incantation and Dance by John Barnes Chance
Thank you, Mr. Zhu, for the videos.
